the countdown continues...

Yesterday was an adventure. I rode with the family two hours to the outlet mall in Zweibrücken. The girls and I wandered around a little bit, "shopped" for jackets and vests at United Colors of Benetton, ate some ice cream, and played at the park.

Looking forward to a relaxing weekend. I hope it decides to stay sunny!

Less than a week until Jakey is here (:

I needed something lighthearted today. These prints from Sapling Press did the trick...

Sunshiny Day

On Sunday I experienced another German tradition. The kids decorated sticks (which were topped with huge pretzels when we got to town) then we all paraded around for awhile with a marching band. For a big finale, they usually burn a Christmas tree to banish winter and welcome the spring. I feel a little jipped...the only thing on fire this year was a burlap sack pretending to be a snowman. Just the same, flowers are blooming and the sun is shining. Feels like spring to me!On another note, Tira fell in the pond today. We were watching tadpoles and she decided to lean a little bit too far. It was initially pretty shocking for her but we were able to laugh about it later. She told me proudly, "Lauren, I kept my mouth closed!"

friday friday!

Weekend! After this one, only 2 weekends until Jake joins me! The family is headed out to celebrate Opa's birthday (so the house above me will be still). I plan to borrow some movies and put on my pj's.

"all-one!"

Recently I happened across some information that made me smile. In my opinion if you've never used Dr. Bronner's soaps, you've been missing out. My favorite is the peppermint castile soap. You can use it for just about anything...shampoo, body wash, household cleaner, etc. (and it smells great!). So anyway, I just learned that crazy Dr. Bronner (apparently he sometimes referred to himself as "rabbi" or "doctor") hailed from Heilbronn, Germany which is less than half an hour from where I live.

Besides that random bit, life is good. For the most part the weather has been really great. Today was definitely jacket weather but we've been enjoying t-shirts and warm sunshine lately.

P.S. The house is slowly getting all decorated for Easter!

Spring!

noch einmal

Here I am back in Germany. I flew in on Tuesday and have been getting adjusted to the time zone and life in general. This afternoon I rode with the family into Mannheim. It's a really beautiful day and I loved just sitting in the sun. I also loved running into this tree with its amazing pink flowers!

Oh, and here's a better picture of my new-ish short hair!

Psalm 104:24 How many are your works, O Lord! In wisdom you made them all; the earth is full of your creatures.

Lake Tahoe (part 2)

This post is a long time coming. I wanted to add a few more Tahoe pictures before I move on and update you on my life right now! Beef jerky (:Our awesome room! This was the common room with the kitchen (our bedrooms were on either side of this). The huge, gigantic, scary (double black diamond) run that Landon did without batting an eye.
Can't wait to go back!
