On Sunday I experienced another German tradition. The kids decorated sticks (which were topped with huge pretzels when we got to town) then we all paraded around for awhile with a marching band. For a big finale, they usually burn a Christmas tree to banish winter and welcome the spring. I feel a little jipped...the only thing on fire this year was a burlap sack pretending to be a snowman. Just the same, flowers are blooming and the sun is shining. Feels like spring to me!
On another note, Tira fell in the pond today. We were watching tadpoles and she decided to lean a little bit too far. It was initially pretty shocking for her but we were able to laugh about it later. She told me proudly, "Lauren, I kept my mouth closed!"

haha awesome! all of it : ) at least they got to burn something--there is a burn ban here because the whole state catches on fire all the time! love you <3
