giving thanks

since I haven't updated since August, I'm not expecting anyone to read this. here it goes just the same...much has happened since then. it has been a crazy semester. my boyfriend turned fiance has been living a mere 1 mile down the road. we've lived ups and downs and I'm certain that I can't live without him. thanks so much to my wonderful friends for helping me see the light when i thought it was gone. "croquet partet" engagement brunch :) this thanksgiving my grandparents invited us to join them in beautiful New Mexico. we stayed in a wonderfully cozy lodge at the bottom of the Angelfire ski lift. I sat in front of toasty fireplaces and ate some delicious homemade foods.

now it's that crazy time in the semester again--the time when every paper from every class is due on the same day and I'm not sure if I'll make it out alive. finals start in exactly two weeks and I absolutely cannot wait to be on the other side.

since my family was out of town for thanksgiving and my little sister's high school graduation approaches (yayy!), mom decorated early. our house is a Christmas wonderland. as I get older, I appreciate it more. I've come to enjoy our fake (mom is allergic) tree full of collected, homemade, special ornaments. they bring back so many memories and remind me that I have
so much to be thankful for.

oh summer, how i've missed you

my final was this morning at 9. i am a proud graduate of 1010,102o, 2040, and 2050. it's kept me busy and i haven't updated in awhile...so here goes...last weekend i road tripped down to houston with some great friends for a music festival. octopus project, explosions in the sky, and broken social scene put on great shows. it was blistering hot and humid (and the will call line was an hour and a half too long) but we were revived by smoothies and had a fantastic time. i'm excited to spend this weekend with my family. mom and i are waking up early to check out some garage sales. i'm excited...it's like a treasure hunt :) also this week my baby sister took a tour of my college! she loves it and is so excited to start in january. then, of course, i've got my jake count down...he'll be back in pdx in a mere 4 days (and we can talk on the phone again!) then here to be with me only 5 days later! my sweet friend katherine is turning 21 on sunday! she'll be in seattle with her twin sister and their dad until tuesday...in the meantime, i'll be brainstorming/creating a bday gift. i'm excited to have the time to sew/craft/design!

last but not least, check out these beautiful textiles (the designer, karen barbe, is from chile)

it is officially storming...

test and presentation? check. it's all downhill from here. just 2 more tests, 6 more classes...the end is in sight! goodness, it's been busy!

the weather just picked up outside...storms from the north! hopefully it'll cool things down a bit. i love to go swimming after it's rained. the water is actually cool and refreshing. it's been fantastic having a pool just across the street.

i'm currently trying to decide whether or not to go out of town this weekend...it would be fun for sure...i just can't talk myself into all the car-time yet. maybe i'll decide when i wake up from this nap....

i got caught up today looking at old pictures. it's unreal how things change. we move in so many different directions...what happens when we find out the things we thought were forever really aren't? years later facebook informs you that so and so is married or having a baby or moving across the country. friendships are worth fighting for...
