Munich

Munich was my favorite part of our trip. We stayed 4 nights and were able to experience more of the city. Munich has a really great public transportation system and when we happened to read our maps right, it made getting around much easier. Our hotel was just 4 stops from the main train station (a convenient option for a late night ice cream run). We spent a lot of time wandering around the beautiful Marienplatz. The top two pictures are of the Neues Rathaus (New Town Hall). It has a glockenspiel that sings and jousts daily. There are some really beautiful old churches in the center of the city. We went into the Frauenkirche and St. Michael's. Below is the Jewish Museum. We didn't have a chance to see this one but we did visit the Münchner Stadtmuseum and saw their "Typically Munich!" exhibition. We took a day tour and visited two of "Mad King Ludwig's" castles--Linderhof and Neuschwanstein. The latter was by far our favorite. The drive through the Bavarian Alps was incredible. Also, if you're wondering...SD cards for your camera are available in the shops near Neuschwanstein in case you leave yours in the hotel too.
